Would you defend your husband if he was accused of killing his mistress?

Sarah Morgan is a successful and powerful defense attorney in Washington D.C. At 33 years old, she is a named partner at her firm and life is going exactly how she planned.

The same cannot be said for her husband, Adam. He is a struggling writer who has had little success in his career. He begins to tire of his and Sarah’s relationship as she is constantly working.

Out in the secluded woods, at Adam and Sarah’s second home, Adam engages in a passionate affair with Kelly Summers.

Then, one morning everything changes. Adam is arrested for Kelly’s murder. She had been found stabbed to death in Adam and Sarah’s second home.

Sarah soon finds herself playing the defender for her own husband, a man accused of murdering his mistress.

But is Adam guilty or is he innocent?

I have always wanted to read this book and so I managed to get a copy of this book. Although I finished this book within three days, I have very mixed feelings about this book, mostly negative feelings.

Sarah is a successful lawyer but her husband Adam is a struggling author. Outside, their marriage seemed to be perfect but deep in the woods in the cabin, Adam is involved in a passionate affair with a woman named Kelly. So when one day, the police arrested Adam for the murder of Kelly as her dead body was found in the cabin. And Sarah wants to defend her husband.

Let’s start with the good ones

The entire story as a whole is fast paced. Short chapters and the story is mainly told from Sarah’s and Adam’s POV. Both in my opinion are unreliable characters so as a reader we don’t know who we actually trust.

Now the bad ones

I didn’t like any of the characters in the book–Sarah is bitch and Adam is a whining dog. You really don’t want to feel sorry for any of the characters.

Even though I hated Adam in the book some of the scenes in the book was unrealistic in my opinion but if I label them out here, I will be giving out spoilers and probably the whole of the book so let’s say it was unrealistic. (the sloppy police work and legal as a whole). This also ponders if the author actually did research about the legal system before writing this novel.

But that doesn’t mean I will not read any of her books–I already have One of Us is Dead by the same author up in my TBR. Perfect Marriage worth 2.5 stars
