Brotherfollows a teenager determined to break from his family’s unconventional—and deeply disturbing—traditions.
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it’s served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don’t knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing as to what’s buried in the Morrows’ backyard.
But nineteen-year-old Michael Morrow isn’t like the rest of his family. He doesn’t take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees. Michael pines for normalcy, and he’s sure that someday he’ll see the world beyond West Virginia. When he meets Alice, a pretty girl working at a record shop in the small nearby town of Dahlia, he’s immediately smitten. For a moment, he nearly forgets about the monster he’s become. But his brother, Rebel, is all too eager to remind Michael of his place…

If you have watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre and LOVED it, then I would highly recommend this book.
Trigger Warning–Rape, Cannibalism, Sexual Assault, Murder, Abductions
This book is one of the most disturbing books I have read. Michael Morrow is a teenage boy. His family lives in a secluded farmhouse, away from the civilization and his family has a weird but disturbing tradition. They kidnap the women, and Michael’s mother would torture and then kill them. Michael and his brother Reb goes into the town to look for their latest prey and Michael meets Alice who is working in a record store. Michael dreams of leaving his family and move to New York to start a whole new life.
There is so much graphic details in the book which maybe disturbing to some readers. The story is told in the POVs of two brothers, Reb and Michael dividing between past and present so we could get what the brother are really up to and trying to do. I found the book disturbing to read but at the same time, I really did feel like I was watching a slasher movie while reading this book. However, the ending I felt was a bit rush and I wish the author kind of expanded the ending a little.
This book is not for faint-hearted but if you do and don’t mind reading about gory and horror book with disturbing detail, then this book is for you–worth 3.5 stars
