Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .
You probably already know about me. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.
You all think I did it. That’s OK, I get it. Being found wandering the streets covered in her blood wasn’t a great look.
Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?
And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?
And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?

I heard so many raving reviews about this book–some Instagrammers even called this book the best book that they have read. And I bought this book to see if it is really the best book or not…and actually it was one of the best books I have read.
Lucy Chase doesn’t remember murdering her best friend Savannah Harper. Everyone thinks Lucy did it. So when a podcaster decides to do a season about the murder, Lucy returns back to her hometown in Texas so that it will help her to recover the memories of what happened that night.
Good points – This was actually a fast-paced thriller. The story is entirely told in Lucy’s POV though you have the snippets of the episodes of the podcasts as Ben, the podcaster interviews people about Lucy. I actually couldn’t put the book down and I was literally engrossed into the book. Not only that–this was actually fun to read as well and there were some funny parts in the book that I actually laughed out loud on that. I also actually surprisingly liked the main protagonist Lucy because I actually found her funny.
Bad points – I am not sure if I have any bad points for this book because this was actually an entertaining read to me!
Overall verdict – If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend this book to you all! If you like a thriller based on true crime podcast with a fun entertaining read, then this book is for you! Overall I rate this book as 4.5 stars!

Amy Tintera started writing novels as a kid during her middle school science classes, which probably explains why she has always been very bad at science. She is now the author of several novels for young adults, including Reboot, a Kids Indie Next pick and YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, the Ruined series, The Q, and All These Monsters, a YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults selection. Her novels have been translated into 16 languages and sold into more than 20 territories.
She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M and a master’s degree in media arts/screenwriting from Emerson College. She worked as a talent agency assistant in Hollywood before becoming an author. Raised in Austin, Texas, she frequently sets her novels in the Lone Star state, but she now lives in Los Angeles, where there’s far less humidity, but not nearly enough Tex-Mex.
Her first novel for adults, Listen for the Lie, will be published March 5, 2024 by Celadon/Macmillan
