My father was Mr Bones – the notorious serial killer of 25 years ago. As a child I witnessed his crimes. Everything is different now. I have a new identity. I’m a mother. I am finally free. Until that podcast. I should never have listened. They’re linking a recent disappearance to the crimes of the past. They know who I am. They’re calling me Little Bones again. They say I’m a villain but I’m not. I’m a victim.

Cherrie Forrester is having a dark secret. Her father was a notorious serial killer who murdered boys and her real name was Leigh Ann and she was nicknamed as Little Bones. She changed her name to Cherrie Forrester to start a new life. When a boy named Thomas Doncaster disappeared, the past comes back haunting her, especially when a podcast was aired talking about her past…
At first, the first few chapters were gripping and intense. The emotional trauma that Cherrie was going through seems realistic. I was hooked into the story that I couldn’t put this book down. However, towards the end, it kind of became lame and the ending to me was a bit confusing. Most characters are not very likable but the writing was OK. The author did a good job making the reader hooked into the story.
Overall, it was a good thriller, though not fast paced. Worth four stars!
I took a break from blogging for two days so I am back with tons of book reviews today!!! So here’s my first book review
The acclaimed author of Home Schooling returns with Midnight Train to Prague, a timeless tale of friendship, romance, betrayal, and survival that spans the turbulent decades of the twentieth century, through two world wars and between countries and continents.
In 1927, as Natalia Faber travels from Berlin to Prague with her mother, their train is delayed in Saxon Switzerland. In the brief time the train is idle, Natalia learns the truth about her father―who she believed died during her infancy―and meets a remarkable woman named Dr. Magdalena Schaeffer, whose family will become a significant part of her future. Shaken by these events, Natalia arrives at a spa on the shore of Lake Hevíz in Hungary. Here, she meets Count Miklós Andorján, a journalist and adventurer. The following year, they will marry.
Years later, Germany has invaded Russia. When Miklós fails to return from the eastern front, Natalia goes to Prague to wait for him. With a pack of tarot cards, she sets up shop as a fortune teller, and she meets Anna Schaeffer, the daughter of the woman she met decades earlier on that stalled train. The Nazis accuse Natalia of spying, and she is sent to a concentration camp. Though they are separated, her friendship with Anna grows as they fight to survive and to be reunited with their families.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for granting me an ARC of this book!
To be honest, I was looking forward to read this book. Anything related to WWII and Holocaust history fascinates me and most books I have read on them are amazing and have rated five stars. Unfortunately, this book didn’t meet my expectations. Too many characters for me to keep up with that I get confused with the characters. The story is divided into three parts–Part 1 is when Natalia is a teenager and the world has just finished with WWI and Russia had two revolutions and became a communist country. On the way to Prague from Berlin, Natalia meets Miklos with whom she falls in love and get married. Part 2 is when the world goes to war again with Hitler and Nazis invading Prague and other European countries and Russia. Part 2 was intriguing read and is about a girl named Anna who wanted to save the Jews. Part 3 is the life after the war.
It was interesting to learn so much things about the history and I like how the story shifts from Europe to Argentina to America, learning about different cultures. Would have enjoyed the book if not too many characters are involved. The plotline also was sometimes confusing to me.
Today I am going with a “Lazy Book Review” – which means I am not going into too much details, just say whether I liked the book or not.
Denpo Myint “Yin” Thuta is living the dream. His dream. A good job, higher education, supportive community and, best of all, his live-in boyfriend, Ari. Yin has his happily-ever-after…if only he and Ari could take the time to actually enjoy it. With the holidays fast approaching, Yin’s determined to change all that and surprise Ari with an over-the-top gift that will leave him in no doubt how much he’s loved—even though they agreed to keep things simple this year.
Like Yin, Aristide “Ari” Douniama worked so hard to secure his future that he may have forgotten how to enjoy his present. Despite there being plenty to be thankful for in the moment. With big plans of his own in the works to surprise Yin, Ari may or may not have gone overboard. Or forgotten to check their respective schedules.
’Tis the season of giving, and in their quest to celebrate the “perfect” American Christmas—and failing—Ari and Yin get a much-needed reminder that they already have the greatest gift of all: each other.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this book! This book is based on my honest opinion.
I didn’t know that this was a part of the Dreamers series–this is the 5th book of the Dreamers series. I really like the chemistry between Yin and Ari, both have the similar background and I think they are really a cute couple. This was also a quick and short read so it wouldn’t take that long to finish this book. Though there is no specific plot line, the story actually talks about the romance between the two, about love, faith and getting together with the loved ones during the season of Christmas. Only thing was I wish this book was a bit longer!
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book and worth three stars!
Adriana Herrera was born and raised in the Caribbean, but for the last 15 years has let her job (and her spouse) take her all over the world. She loves writing stories about people who look and sound like her people, getting unapologetic happy endings. When she’s not dreaming up love stories, planning logistically complex vacations with her family or hunting for discount Broadway tickets, she’s a social worker in New York City, working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
This is the second book I have read from this author. The first book, The Broken Girls, which I did a book review on was good but I would say this book…AMAZING!
The story is divided into two parts–past, told from the perspective of Viv Delaney in 1982, who was on her way to New York to become an actress but ended up in a small town called Fell, New York, working as a night shift in a seedy motel called Sun Down Motel and the present, 2017, told from the perspective of Carly Kirk, who happened to Viv’s niece and who comes to Fell to investigate about her aunt’s sudden disappearance thirty five years ago. Along with the presence of ghosts and supernatural forces around the motel is also a thriller where a man posing as a salesman is murdering girls, back in 1982.
I really enjoyed reading this book–perfect for a great Halloween read. The story itself was spooky, creepy and weird and I was so drawn into the story that I felt like I was in some sort of horror movie! I couldn’t really put the book down as well. A thriller mixed with ghost stories, that’s the type of thriller I would so want to read. The descriptions of the places, particularly the lifestyle during the 1980’s was fascinating to read as well. The story is well written and the author did a good job scaring the reader through the words!
Overall, I truly enjoyed reading this book–a scary thriller with twists and turns that you simply wouldn’t want to put down–worth five stars!

Upstate New York, 2017. Carly Kirk has never been able to let go of the story of her aunt Viv, who mysteriously disappeared from the Sun Down before she was born. Amber is dealing with being a mother to Mabel and her sister, Ruby, suggests that Amber and George go away on a romantic getaway to spend time with each other. But then one night, while Ruby is babysitting Mabel, a kidnapper who had been stalking Mabel and Amber for a while kidnaps Mabel from the cot. Then the drama begins.
At first, I really like the story. The story was quiet a page turner and there were some unexpected twists and turns that kept the reader at the edge of the seat. The author did a good job of bringing the reader into the story, making the reader hooked into the story. This book was also a fast paced thriller which was a good thing and what I would expect from a good thriller. There were so many secrets that Amber seems to be hiding and as a reader you want to know what those secrets are. And the abductor? You would want to know why this abductor targeted Mabel. However, except for Ruby and Mabel, I didn’t really like the characters much, particularly Amber’s and Ruby’s mother. I also like to see the strained sisterly relationship between Amber and Ruby.
Overall, this book is a gripping thriller where you simply cannot put down and will keep you up all night reading the book! Worth four stars!
This book will be released on November 2nd 2020 so you can pre-order your copy now on Amazon if you are interested!
It was just one night away. I had no idea how devastating it would be…
My sister said I deserved a break. She offered to babysit so that my husband and I could have one night away, remember who we used to be before the sleepless nights.
But the next morning my phone rings. My sister is hysterical. Mabel’s cot is empty. My little girl is gone.
I race home with a horrible sick feeling flooding my stomach. The little sleepsuits still hang on the radiator but there is no gurgling or cooing on the baby monitor – just silence.
Now the police are questioning everyone. My sister, my husband, the girls from my baby group.
I want my little girl back more than anything and I will do whatever it takes. But I have a secret… Could the darkness in my past have put my baby at risk?
A truly gripping psychological thriller of manipulation and betrayal from bestselling author Jess Ryder. The Night Away will have you hooked until the final devastating revelation. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train or The Woman in the Window.

Ava put her daughter Abi in the pushchair for merely five minutes as she rushed back upstairs to the bathroom. And when she returned back, her daughter is missing. Ava blames herself for her daughter’s disappearance and refuses to move on until she and her husband Matt were invited to a housewarming party, hosted by the Lovegood family. Then at the party, some secrets starts emerging…
I really liked the pace of the story. The emotional feelings that Ava is going through is realistic as she is struggling to move on, even she has another child, Fred. The story parts are sad as how Ava’s sudden disappearance put a toll on Ava’s marriage with Matt as well as Ava’s relationship with the neighbors, Bella and Neil and others. The feel of guilt that Ava is experiencing seemed real. The story is fast paced, making the reader hooked into the story. The first part was a bit boring but towards the middle until the end, at the party only some twists and turns start to happen with secrets revealing and lies and betrayal. Overall, this is actually an emotional family drama with a thriller in it. The ending was literally sad though it was good.
Overall it was a heartwarming story. Worth four stars!
Everyone is going to the housewarming party. All the same people who lived on the street the day Abi vanished… Will her mother finally learn the truth?
Ava only left her daughter in the pushchair for five minutes. The buckle was fastened, and she was sure it was safe. But when she came downstairs, the door was open and Abi was gone – she walked down the road, past the Lovegoods’ house, and was never seen again.
A year later, the Lovegoods are planning their long-anticipated housewarming party. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief. Her husband Matt persuades her: he’s worried about her. A night out might do her good.
But as her friends and neighbours chat, and the drink and gossip flows, Ava learns something new about the day she has re-lived a thousand times. A throwaway comment which could change everything.
Ava thought she knew every last detail of that day.
She’s about to find out she was wrong…

Hey all! I am back with the book review–The Dogs of Winter by Ann Lambert
The sequel to The Birds That Stay – hailed by the New York Journal of Books as “a fascinating and gripping tale of suspense” and the Globe and Mail as one of “Ten thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat”. Says Ann Cleeves of the new book: “it’s about power and powerlessness in the dead of winter. And more than that, it’s a rollicking good read.” The Dogs of Winter begins after a howling snowstorm envelops Montreal, and the body of a young woman is discovered in its wake. The only clue to her identity is the photograph in her pocket, and on it, the phone number of Detective Inspector Romeo Leduc. Meanwhile, Marie and Romeo are busy navigating their deepening relationship, and a student at Marie’s college is the victim of a terrible assault. While Romeo begins to think that the dead woman may be linked to violence against several homeless people in the city, the search for justice in both cases is thwarted by societal apathy and ignorance, even as the killer is stalking the frigid streets of Montreal, preying on and terrorizing its most vulnerable citizens.

Thank You Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. This review is based completely on my honest opinion.
This is the first time I have read the book from this author and is the sequel to The Birds That Stay but it was OK to read as a standalone book.
The story begins with a woman named Rosie braving through the winter storm with a dog in her arms when she got hit by a car driven by a wealthy and popular woman named Danielle, who ignored the accident and fled the scene. Then there is a serial killer on loose who seemed to be murdering the homeless indigenous people and then a girl who got raped by a well known man. The story is based in Canada.
I like the pace of the story–the story is somewhat realistic in a sad way at how the indigenous people, named Inuit in Canada are often vulnerable to attacks in Montreal which is actually sad, coupled with the #MeToo movement, when a girl named Michaela, a student of Marie gets raped by a man who is well known to the society. There is some sort of thrill in the book, fast paced, page turner and is well written, as the author did a good job making the reader into the story. Learned some French words while reading the book! The only bad thing is too many characters so I kind of had a hard time keeping up with the characters.
Overall, this is a good thriller that will make you enjoy reading the book–worth four stars!

Laura and Connor Caldwell welcomes their son Shay and bring him to their house. There were stacks of cards congratulating them for the birth of their son. But one card tells Laura that her husband, Connor is a murderer. That he murdered a girl named Vicky. Because of the night of Vicky’s murder, the last person Vicky had sent a message was to Connor. Laura starts investigating on her own but as she digs deeper, some secrets are threatened to make their way…
This book is an OK thriller. The writing was good and the author did a good making the reader hooked into the story. The first bits of the story was a bit boring–but then gradually, there was a slow climax in the middle until towards the end. Overall, despite being a slow paced thriller, this was actually a good thriller. The story is based on Laura’s perspectives and discovers her relationship with Connor, Amanda her sister and her mother-in-law, Maggie.
Overall this is a good thriller, worth three stars!

When two unexplainable deaths occur in the hospital almost six months’ apart, Dr. Nathan Mosley, a junior doctor reports them and the main suspect of the deaths was the ward manager, Carrie Parsons as she was present at both their deaths. While evidences are mounting against Carrie, Carrie’s sister, Alexa believes that her sister is innocent although her husband Perry believes otherwise. Then Alexa’s daughter gets hurt and it was Carrie who was looking after her. Does Alexa know her sister?
I really like the suspense in the story. It kept the reader on the edge. Did Carrie really kill those two patients or was someone trying to frame her? These questions are tumbling into the reader’s minder as I kept reading. This is a fast paced thriller, addressing some family and personal issues, particularly between Perry and Carrie as Perry didn’t want Carrie to be living with them. The ending was quiet unexpected and didn’t see that coming!
Overall, this is a fast paced thriller, quiet a page turner keeping the reader at suspense. Worth five stars!

Madison walked through the fallen snow, looking left and right. It had been Kaylee’s idea to use the trail through the forest; she said no one would follow them. But Madison lost sight of Kaylee for a moment and when she found her again she wasn’t alone…
In the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota, you can scream for days and no one will hear you. So when the bodies of two fifteen-year-old girls are discovered frozen in the snow, Special Agent Nikki Hunt is sure the killer is local: someone knew where to hide the girls and thought they would never be found.
Though Nikki hasn’t been home in twenty years, she knows she must take over the case. The Sheriff’s department in Stillwater has already made a mistake by connecting the girls’ murders to those of a famous serial killer, refusing to consider the idea that the killer could be someone from town.
Then another girl’s body is found, a red silk ribbon tied in her hair, and Nikki realizes that the killer has a connection to her own dark past, and the reason she left Stillwater.
Nikki is not the only person in town who wants those secrets to stay hidden. Will she be able to face her demons before another child is taken?
Gripping and spine-chilling, The Girls in the Snowwill make you gasp, unable to put it down until the final heart-pounding twist. Perfect for fans of Karin Slaughter, Lisa Gardner and Robert Dugoni.

FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called back to her hometown, Stillwater in Minnesota where she wanted to be further away from. The murders of two teenage girls, Madison and Kaylee were eerily similar to the Frost murders that FBI is investigating–they were left frozen to death on the snow with a red ribbon on their hair. Meanwhile, Nikki’s past comes haunting back to her when a man who she thinks is guilty of murdering her parents is appealing and many are supporting him as DNA tests came to light. And while trying to solve the two girls’ murders, her past is haunting her and the secrets long buried is come back to live…
This book is the first book I have read from the author. This book is also the first of the Nikki Hunt series. This thriller is quiet fast paced which I like and is quiet a page turner and unputdownable. There is so much suspense in the book that the author did a good job keeping the reader hooked into the story, I mean who actually killed those two girls? Is it the serial killer or someone doing a copycat murder? And then about Nikki’s past about her parents’ murder–is the man behind the bars innocent as he claims and who is responsible then? These questions haunt you in your head as you read more and more, wanting to know more. I like Nikki’s estranged relationship with her hometown as she has mixed feelings about returning back to the town as well her relationship with colleagues and her ex-boyfriend, John Banks. There were some twists and turns and towards the end, it was a bit unexpected. The writing was good and I simply couldn’t put down the book and read it really quick. Really enjoyed this thriller. Worth five stars!
